COPENHAGEN...STOCKHOLM

The sweet Copenhagen was the place I chose for my fourth marathon, which I completed this past May.  I ran with a full happy heart, around a city that has long been my most favourite spot in all of Europe.  The people, [those lovely Danes], the breathtaking architecture and culture in such a lovely part of the world made this, by far, my most favourite run to date.  The 42.2 km seemed less painful as I had the sheer joy of running the cobbled streets in this beautiful old city.  A quick little visit over to Stockholm completed this lovely wee trip.  I made some sweet lifelong friendships and with my ongoing plans to return to Scandinavia for my Masters next fall, I excitedly await these continuations of joy and bliss....

Vancouver sunsets....

Living in Vancouver, along the west coast of Canada, allows one to enjoy both the waters of the Pacific Ocean and the rugged backdrop of the Coast Mountains.  The air is always fresh and moist...

The locals of this beautiful city often flock to the beach to watch the rich red and orange glow set over the horizon...quietly absorbing the peace as the light disappears.

Winter in Norway...

Winter in Norway is cold, crisp and beautiful. Exploring the outdoors is wonderful and full of delightful secrets hidden between the hills and valleys.

The snow is crunchy beneath your feet as you navigate through the alpine tundra, reaching the low peaks to be witness to the glow of the sun setting west, over the icy fjords.

helikopter...

Exploring the North typically involves alternate sources of transportation.  Besides the obvious joy of tearing around on ATV's and snowmobiles I often get to travel the skies in the other ATV,  helicopters....

Graffiti...

© Banksy

If you ever get the chance..check out the art of Banksy.  His cheeky voice in response to society is evident in his edgy, creative art displayed around the cities of London and New York, to name a few.  The streets are his microphone and the walls his canvas.  His book, "Wall and Piece" contains photos of some of these expressions and is definitely worth the read.

Doors of Stockholm..

I recently had the pleasure of a short visit to Stockholm.  Its strong beauty was evident in the windows and doorways littering the side streets of Gamla Stan, a delightful space in the heart of the city.  These are but a few.....

Greenland..

Last year, I worked in South Greenland.  I walked the land between the icy fjords and the great Greenland ice cap, experiencing the late spring coldness change into the slight warmth of early summer.  The villages were breathtaking and colourful and the people rich in culture passed down from the Greenlandic forefathers and the visiting Viking explorers...
